4 women charged with leaving dogs in hot cars

Four women each have been charged with one count of animal cruelty for leaving their dogs confined in hot cars, Elmira City Animal Control reported Thursday.

• Manjula Neerukonda, of Almond, was charged for leaving her dog confined in a car under extreme temperature while shopping Thursday morning at Sam’s Club in the Town of Big Flats, Animal Control said. When officers arrived the car’s interior temperature exceeded 116 degrees, Animal Control said.

Neerukonda is to appear in Big Flats Town Court on Aug. 14, Animal Control said.

• Lynn Sisson of Hammondsport was charged Thursday for leaving her dog confined in a car under extreme temperature while Sisson was working at Dunkin’ Donuts on Miracle Mile in the Town of Horseheads, Animal Control said. When officers arrived, the car’s interior temperature exceeded 118 degrees, Animal Control said.

Sisson is to appear in Horseheads Town Court on Aug.14, Animal Control said.

• Anecqua Roberson, 27, of Allentown, Pa., was charged on Thursday after Animal Control said she left her dog confined in a car under extreme temperature while visiting an inmate at Elmira Correctional Facility. When officers arrived the car’s interior temperature exceeded 117 degrees.

Roberson is due to appear in Elmira City Court on Aug. 15 to answer the charge.

• Melinda Vroman, 46, was charged Wednesday for leaving her dog confined in a car under extreme temperature while parked off Henry Street in the City of Elmira, Animal Control said. When officers arrived, the car’s interior temperature exceeded 102 degrees, Animal Control said.

Vroman is to appear in Elmira City Court on Aug. 15, Animal Control said.elm070714animalcontrol1rf
